The hypothesis launched by Charles Bufe and David Perkins (Evidence for a Global Seismic-Moment Release Sequence, BSSA, 835-845, 2005), a few months before the big Indian Ocean tsunami, of the global clustering of large earthquakes and the approaching of a sequence of big events, was seen as confirmed by many, with the occurrence of six M=8.5+ earthquakes between December 2004 and April 2012.

Two questions arise: Has the above sequence statistical significance? And, if yes, are there more megaquakes on the way?
