In my E-library there is only one manuscript remotely suitable for this topic. One of the findings of the study is that with age, emotional perception is weakening.

2. If you see any link between these two points, there should be a number of rsearch done on receptive language disorder school performance and r.l.d. emotional problems/personality dvelopment.

3. Usually the differentiation between aditoriy processing (ICDF80.20) and receptive language disorder (ICDF80.28) is not clearly seen by non-child and adolescent psychiatrists, but to a CAP-specialists it is very evident - the first more based on sensory problems based on neuropsychological problems, the latter on neuropsychological language problems.

I recently started doing research on ADHD and it is more complex than I thought. The symptoms of emotional lability and executive dysfunction are shared by many children and adults with ADHD. It may be worth checking for an ADHD diagnosis.

More recent research seems to indicate that adult prisoners have a higher than normal rate of ADHD. Once treated (medicated) rates of reoffending drop significantly. J. Buitelaar (from the Radboud University) did an excellent presentation at a conference (2016 or 2018) in Amsterdam (for more info on the whats and hows of ADHD); and Susan Young and Philip Asherson (among others) published materials about prisoners and ADHD.

Information on ADHD is the closest clinical consideration to a broader conceptualization of emotion regulation difficulties that I have been able to find in the APD/CAPD literature. I have data on early onset persistent delinquent boys and girls, as well as delinquent girls in an RCT for concurrent treatment of trauma and substance use. Both groups do have elevated ADHD-type symptoms. However, the extremely high rates of early, recurrent and severe trauma and adversity may possibly better account for these symptoms. Many of the youth have a broad spectrum of symptoms that could be considered trauma, psychotic spectrum, disruptive behavior and affective related, with dysregulation at the core - across disorder types. This significantly complicates the picture. ADHD symptoms always drop out of our models predicting emotion regulation (PTSD, in contrast, is retained).

Ulrich Rüth - Thanks! I have data on both receptive language and auditory processing problems. There are links of course, and delinquents are known to have relative and absolute receptive language difficulties. My kids show worse performance on auditory figure ground and processing of filtered words than on any other measures (receptive or expressive language, general intellectual, executive functioning, learning, memory, academic indicators etc.). Their performance on the SCAN auditory processing composite is predictive of emotion regulation as assessed by the Emotion Functioning score (regulatory abilities in response to environmental demands) from the Delis Rating of Executive Functions measure.

Thanks for the informative reply. One of the causes of ADHD can be early trauma. A while back I read an article (don't know where) reporting that adopted children have a higher rate of ADHD. Your issue is complex and I look forward to your results. Best wishes

To my understanding the temporal lobe will deal with memory and perception, where the parietal lobe and occipital lobe deals with emotional and senses. Visual process and executive function has to do with the temporal lobe and the occipital regions with the addition of the hippopotamus as well as the thalamus ares linking it all together causing decision and behavior.
