I can only find such processes for explicit applications. Some more generic step-by-step descriptions of the workflow of building digital twins would be more helpful. Can someone recommend relevant literature for this topic? Thanks in advance!

I have detailed models for the case of mineral processing. The methods can be in principle transferred to other processes as well, especially a step-by-step model calibration procedure, which is also published in an IFAC conference:
