Given that there are differences in cortisol production regarding gender (women produce more), would this also equate to differing ratios regarding catecholamines as well? Could this be an explanation why women, on the average, have lower tolerance to orthostatic stressors? Or rather, regardless of gender, would orthostatic instability come about because of lower concentrations of catecholamine release from the adrenal glands and/or post ganglionic sympathetic nerve endings?
