RMS is a software application where we document, monitor, track and administer all information in a research lab including personnel, projects, funding, reagents and equipment. So, this makes management, inventory and report generation very easy.
What you described isn't RMS (Research Management System) but used in a different connotation as ECD (Electronic Capturing of Data). I'm not aware of any real RMS. The only close product is Project Management System:
Thank you Len Leonid Mizrah I think the intellectual path of any research lab is no deter to the conceptualization of a software-based management. I asked this having Learning Management System (LMS), Hospital Information System (HIS) and Laboratory Information System (LIS) in mind, where it is even more complex but made much simpler with these softwares.
SciNote (https://www.scinote.net/) is great for managing research data and it’s available free for individual researchers as well as on premium plans for managing teams.
It's structured by projects divided into tasks, to which you can assign inventory, step-by-step protocol and even team members, so it's easy to keep organized. And it even generates automatic reports.
G2 (https://www.g2.com/categories/electronic-lab-notebook-eln#grid) offers unbiased reviews for it, as well as other similar software and makes comparison easy.
