HPMC has good film forming properties and other characteristics which are suitable for developing ODF. But are there any limitations ar drawbacks of using HPMC in ODF?
According to the Inactive Ingredient Guideline issued by the US FDA, each film contains over 300 mg of HPMC, which exceeds the necessary amount for effective film formation.
The concentration of HPMC is directly related to the disintegration time; an increased concentration of HPMC results in a prolonged disintegration period for the film.
Additionally, HPMC demonstrates superior film-forming capabilities when compared to other polymers used for this purpose.
