At the University of Goettingen, we want to design a questionaire testing teacher self-efficacy beliefs among teachers, who might have to teach Politics, History and Geography as one subject.
You might want to try Gibson and Dembo (1984) Teacher Efficacy: A Construct Validation, in the Journal of Educational Psychology Vol. 76. The construct basically focuses on teachers' attitudes toward working with students and explores the main roles in teacher effectiveness. Not specifically social science related, but could very well be adapted to such. This article has some interesting information as well: http://courses.washington.edu/pbafadv/examples/Teacher%20Efficacy.pdf
Thank you both for your suggestions. I already have a great variety of measurement tools froh the 70s onwards, including the two sources you were so kind to point out. The problem, however, is that none of them tests teacher self-efficay in interdisciplinary/cross-curricular subjects. Maybe this is an oddity of the German education system after all...
If you happen to come across any research in that direction, please let me know.
I would recommend the TSES (Tschannen-Moran & Woolfolk Hoy, 2001), too. There are two transaltions of the short version from Scherer et al. (2016) and form our reserch group (which we would like to present at the GEBF: Götz, Kristina ¹, Gibson, Ken ², Schweizer, Karin ¹ & Horn, Michael: "Selbstwirksamkeit bei Lehramtsstudierenden in Deutschland und Nord-Irland. Ein Vergleich von TSES und SWE." ). I would further suggest to adapt this version to interdisciplinary/cross-curricular subjects which has usual be done in all specific pedagogical contents.
(Scherer, R., Jansen, M., Nilsen, T., Areepattamannil, S., Marsh, H.M. (2016). The Quest for Comparability: Studying the Invariance of the Teachers‘ Sense of Self-Efficacy (TSES) Measure across Countries. PLoS ONE 11(3): e0150829. doi: 10.137/journal.pone.0150829.)
I address learning in section 2.5 "Related work" from the other perspective (the child-perspective) in "Social interaction, globalization and computer-aided analysis" (maybe in the library of your university). You could probably find the useful assessment method of teachers in the mentioned papers.
