I have a polymer-AuNPs system in toluene that I'd like to purify using gel permeation chromatography. Is there any way of doing this without using the appropriate instrument? I.e. some sort of kit? My polymer is highly air and moisture sensitive, so I'd need to work in a glove box. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
You can try with a simple column for chromatographic separation and have to identify the matrix you wish to select. Your task is to separate free un-reacted polymer from the composite and also free from pure Au np. First fix the column materials so that in toluene you can check its flow . Also you can use a nitrogen or Ar inlet from the top of the column providing a blanket of such gas which will create your column air and moisture free. Once you set this , test run with only polymer then use your polymer-AuNP adduct and can now do the operation in a glove box as a double precaution. A little innovation and you will be successful
