The head of library and information sciences remarks that if we cite the YouTube files in research activities, the probability of publishing the article will even be reduced to minus one. Any idea will be appreciated.
If you are e.g., analysing lecturing styles in YouTube for your research topic, then you have to cite the URLs for the extracts that you refer to or your paper will be immediately rejected on the grounds of plagiarism!
If you came across a key idea in your research from watching a YouTube video, it is incumbent on you to honestly cite it for the same reason.
If you have only used YouTube for general entertainment as a diversion from your research, then your paper will be immediately rejected if you cite the URL.
Thank you so much for highlighting the significant points. Honestly, plagiarism avoidance strategies especially respected in this study. How can the researchers evidently prove the credibility of the videos? Do the researchers applying the YouTube videos as an instructional material or treatment successfully publish their articles?
If you happen to find a video which e.g. helps you to write better academic English, then you can acknowledge that in your Acknowledgements section. It does NOT appear in your References section, or the body of your thesis.
Please give an example of where you have found credible medical research being talked about on YouTube, which is NOT available in the scientific literature?
Here is an example. Suppose a researcher is about to present the video file in his online classes before administering some academic writing tasks. He is also interested in analyzing the students' performance after watching the video file. Is there any publication rule for accepting or rejecting the articles in which such videos presented as pedagogical instruments? Anyhow, in this situation, in addition to the in-text citations, the references likewise have to appear in the reference list.
Ok. So the educational video is your intervention, which is supposed to produce some improvement in the integrity of writing of those students you expose to the video. How can another researcher duplicate your research without knowing which video you used? So you have to reference it in your research report and the general remark of your librarian is false.
Thank you again. However, as you know, not all the videos publishing on YouTube are reliable resources. In fact, the characteristics candidating the videos for intervention requires careful attention. Whether or not, administering untrustworthy resources might result in article rejection!
Similarly citing websites, your question remind me years ago asking about citing website in scientific research. if really something important , official or a surgical operation, or analyzing runners videos as to do optimal performance is acceptable. I have cited this video in my work for first time in the journal of Visualized Experiments.

Thank you all. The attached link also shows the effectiveness of web 2.0 technology, and particularly the YouTube videos, on teaching and learning progression.
