I want to know if the water logging of container having growth media provided with Azotobacter sp. and Pseudomonas Sp. bacteria affected this bio fertilizers
Yes water logging may effect efficacy of biofertilizers and biocontrol agents. If water is stagnated, it creates anoxia situation for plants where there is deficiency of oxygen to roots. The useful microbes also affected from further proliferation.
Water logging is a serious problem in tea plant where we have observed the efficacy of biofertilizer to reduce drastically. Water logging also affects the overall soil microbial population.
Under logging or high rainfall conditions, it always good follow ridge and furrow, broad bed method of sowing. Enough organic matter helps in build up of enough population of useful microbes.
Dr Ali , there is every possibility , waterlogging will reduce the population of aeration loving microbes like Azotobacter and Psedumonas . However , there could also be a possibility , that some strains could do well under such oxygen depleted conditions , needs to be further explored , following the staunch premise , let us use the native isolates.?
