Social media is a platform which has opened up fantastic opportunities for boosting socioeconomic developments of communities experiencing the effects of globalization. Unfortunately, the illiterate people trapped in a cycle of poverty are prone to unemployment or low income generation and higher chances of poor health. As such, illiteracy is a curse to humanity because the lack of minimum capabilities needed to function effectively in a society with social networking opportunities limit individuals' interactive skills and their ability to reap the benefits of social media like reading emails , tweeting, and blogs. On this basis, the impact of illiteracy on intelligent use of social media is indubitably unpleasant and negative .
I find your contribution to be very balanced, differentiated and worth reading. It could be that with any topic or level of "natural" abilities those users who are illiterate (but have a normal intelligence) are motivated to take an interest in reading and learning programs that should be developed first. I suspect that the use of social media could provide the opportunity for a number of experienced participants to reinforce initial successes in reading learning.

Current studies on media use place a high premium on digital literacy. Social media have certainly influenced methods of communication and the way we perceive global affairs both positively and negatively. As such, the sending and sharing of knowledge and information have risen in unprecedented degree and intensity. Generally speaking, digital literacy has promoted the so called serendipity learning and is a bridge towards liberatory learner autonomy whereby the individuals are free to set their own directions for attaining the expected goals.
