I am curious whether shrimp viruses can spread from infected shrimp cadavers to non-infected shrimp cadavers in a processing plant. As far of my knowledge, virus need a live host to replicate, but how about death shrimp? Is virus still able to adhere to the host receptors (Taking into consideration that It can't multiply)?

What I want to know is, are there any possibilities for virus from infected shrimps to cross-contaminate a disease free shrimp while processing in the processing plant. For instance, lets say, I am processing infected shrimps, then proceed with cleaning and hygiene procedures..followed by processing non-infected shrimps. If the virus is still present on table or something due to poor hygiene, will it able to contaminate or attached to the non-infected shrimps because the non-infected shrimps are still host for the virus. Will the receptor from dead shrimps able to adhere to the virus?

Hi Thanes. Yes, technically it is possible i suppose. Although being inhert and unable to replicate, viruses can stile be infective if they find a suitable host and are able to overcome physical barriers and immunity. They can definitely bind receptors.
Even if it is possible i think it is unlikely for many reasons.
First, virus survival depends on water conditions. Temperature, water pH and salt content, light... Cold and dark water is better for viruses, if frozen they can last for years. Also, as Alexander said, enzymes may be present in virus and damage viruses:
Second, not all viruses are the same, capsid and envelope determines viral resistance. So, you should ask yourself which viruses are worrying you and what are their characteristics.
Third, How many virus? One single virion usually is not enough, you need to have plenty viruses to give an infection. If you have few shrimps infected it is not probable that they can produce such a high number of virions.
Fourth, if the uninfected shrimps are healty they should not have entry points and susceptibility.
