I pulled a dead HBO 103 W/2 OSRAM bulb out of our fluorescent microscope, and I'm trying to replace it with at HBO 100 W/2 OSRAM bulb I found stashed in the lab.

Although one bulb outputs fewer lumens, it seems like they have the same voltage, wattage, and housing. The manual for the microscope cautions against using the wrong bulb. Does anyone know why it would be wrong to use a different bulb even when the voltage, wattage, and housing are the same?
