Intronic sequences are often useful to promote gene expression, either due to beneficial effects of RNA splicing on mRNA stability, or due to the presence of intronic enhancers that boost transcription. If an intronic sequence is included in a lentiviral construct will it be spliced out prior to incorporation into the virion? If so, does anyone know how the efficiency of the process (is there a mixed population of virions some with and some without the intronic sequences)?
