I remember when I was an undergraduate to learn that in the field around the magnet the field flux stems not from the magnet itself but is actually a physical property of the vacuum and that the magnet acts more like a disruptor of this vacuum energy.

If this is true, and everything matter and light is made of fundamental EM vacuum flux thus coherent distortions of the vacuum, then why the vacuum flux is not regarded as more elementary than the Standard model "elementary" particles?
