I'm confused about what statistical tests would be appropriate to utilise for the following design.
I've conducted a questionnaire that measures 5 domains in males and females . I'm interested in knowing firstly whether there is a difference between each domain between males and females (e.g. whether domain A was higher in males or females), and also whether there is a difference between each domain in males and in females (e.g. whether for males, domain A was higher form domain B, and the same for females etc.).
Would it work best to conduct a series of t-tests? I.e. independent t-tests to determine whether males scored higher than females in domain A, and then dependent t-tests to determine whether for males/females, domain A was higher than domain B? I'm a little confused as to whether a dependent t-test would be appropriate for this, as I don't have a single DV, e.g. I'm looking at two different domains?
