Anyone pours the medium into a beaker instead of using suction hose and glass pipette?

I see some people pour the exhausted medium into a beaker which contains bleach placed inside the hood instead of suction. The idea seems good saving resources but was wondering if bleach can negatively affects the cells being in hood together.
