I would like to ask whether EEGLAB allows one to plot average power topographic maps in frequency bands like delta, theta, alpha, beta, gamma. From the 'Plot channel spectra and maps' command one can only plot spectral plots for individual frequencies. Is there a way of to plot average power and represent it in topographic maps?
I do not know if there is a smooth way within EEGLab, but you can do this with Matlab. Take the results from your FFT or Wavelet analysis of each individual and put them in one file. Now, you should have a threedimensional matrice Electrodes X Freqs X Individuals. Now you can select the frequency range of interest and average across it. Then average across participants. Now you have a mean freq-value for each electrode, which you can plot with topoplot or pop_topoplot.
In case of topoplot function we need to pass channel location file as input. My dataset consists of EEG data recorded from two channels only (Fz and Pz). Can you please suggest me how to create the channel location file for my dataset?
I would ask you what do you mean concerning Brain Mapping? Absolute&Relative Powers, Dominant Frequences on fidderents bands, EEG Coherence, Sensoric Evoked Potentials, or Event-Related Potentials (P300, cognitive). Please, specify the question.
In my work I am trying to plot average power spectra of theta frequency band recorded at electrode Fz. I want to track the increase / decrease of theta power with course of time.
Why not using a simple line-plot to show the changes over the course of time for the one or two electrodes? Very simple and demonstrative.
If you want to track the increase / decrease of power, the simpler option is to calculate power spectra using the function spectopo in matlab. If you are not familiar with matlab, you can use the function "power spectra and maps" in EEGLAB and then, the option "data statistics" (you can observe power using the function "data statistics in the frequency range you want).
