I need to extract volatile materials from consumer products such as detergent, soaps and other perfumery products. usually the fragrance materials will be about 0.5 to 1.0 % in the consumer products. i need to extract the fragrance materials which are volatile from base by using techniques such as SPME, L-L Extraction, SCF Extraction, Liquid - Sonication and which can be used for GCMS / FID
please give idea on any of the extraction methods with more recovery.

I remember SFC (carbon dioxide extraction) of hops (humulus lupulus) in the brewing industry when I worked there.
It produced the most clean fragrant extracts when compared to methylene chloride.
I know it has been used for a long time for the extraction of spices.
I remember trialling an SFC extraction machine for sample sizes of up to 10 grams. It seemed quite easy to operate.
I cannot remember the name of the manufacturer but a web search should bring them up.
I have also used supercritcal carbon dioxide for supercritical fluid chromatography and was surprised at the solvent power of the carbon dioxide.
It seems quite selective, but this may depend on the matrix.
One great advantage is that evaporation of the carbon dioxide occurs at uber low temperatures and this can help to minimize loss of volatile compounds, although a column of say XAD-7 should also possibly be used to trap any that might be lost in the gas flow.
