Karl fisher reagent is added to the titration vessel. The reagent contains an alcohol, a base, SO2 and I2. Briefly: as long as there is water I2 is consumed, at the endpoint the excess of I2 is detected by two polarized Pt electrodes. Polarization is achieved by a constant current or constant potential difference.
-micro method or coulometric titration
The I2 is generated by a second set of Pt electrodes, the amount of current allows calculation of the amount of generated I2( colorimetric) End point detection as above.
