I am mixing some chemicals along with propylene glycol with some aldehydes, in some instances there is a formation of acetal but other times not.
Does anybody know the thermodynamics & kinetics of the acetal formation reaction and how to control the reaction?
In my case I do not want acetals to form in my mixture.

Presence of an acid catalyses the formation of acetals, check for acidic content in your chemicals.
