Internal hernia can occur in 6 to 7% after laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, and closure of mesenteric defects is crucial. What about the risk of developing internal hernia after laparoscopic mini-gastric bypass.
If you look up on pubmed, there are now 2 published cases of internal hernia after MGB. The papers of large series don't close the mesentric defect. (Rutledge, Kular, Cabajo M, Musella, Noun, Jammu, Lee, Parmar)
