Collagen crosslinkage has long been known to be essential for collagen stiffness and hence stem cell and fibroblast and osteoblast differentiation thus eruption and formation of alveolus .
We have been working with collagen Type I and its crosslinked form that obtained by using dehydrothermal crosslinking. At the end of the process we can manage to obtain sponge like structure but it is too weak for implantation. Most likely, our material is not suitable for craniomandibular applications in terms of weak mechanical properties.
