Special Committee on Pollinator Insects was established under the Chinese Entomological Society on Sept. 23rd, 2015 (Chinese version, http://blog.sciencenet.cn/blog-536560-923997.html). Currently, committee members include Chinese experts on systematics, diversity, pollination biology, apiculture, ecology, genome biology and climate change.

Better identification of the bees of China is a subject that interests me and my research colleague, Dr Ren Zong-Xin (Kunming Institute of Botany, Bejing). We do have a program studying the pollination ecology of the flora of montane Yunnan. I hope to return to Yunnan in 2017 but also attend the Botanical Congress later in the summer. On Nov. 10th, I joined the Sino BON Annual Meeting to give a progress report on Insect Diversity Network. After discussions, Prof. Ke-Ping MA and all other participants agreed on both the full title, Insect Diversity Monitoring Network, China and the abbreviation, Sino BON - Insects. As designed in the network, pollinator insects has been set as top in the priority list of pollinator insects to monitor.
