Currently, I am trying to grow Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans in the lab. This bacteria has a prolonged growth rate and can take up to 15 days to grow. Because this is an acidophilic bacteria that oxidizes Fe2+ as it grows, the media progressively turns orange. but, even after 25 days to 1 month, there are no significant changes in colour. This bacteria has been bought twice, and both times it has shown very slow to no growth.

Growth media: 9K media

NCIM NO. 5370

Condition: 29C, 150 RPM

Anyone who has any experience or any information on how to grow these bacteria, what precautions, or extra measurements have to be taken for these bacteria to grow in a lab, will be highly appreciated
