Dear all,
How can I identify Thiobacillus genus without using postgate media and molecular identification?
There is different bacteria that grow on postgate media and change the color to yellow so we can not be sure about it. In the other hand molecular identification is the best way but it takes 2 weeks for sequencing and it is too long.
So, Please inform me if you know a faster method?

To determine thiobacillus, Beijerink's medium of the following composition was used (g⁄l): Na2SO4 - 5.0; NH4Cl 0.1; NaHCO3 0.1; Na2HPO4∙ 2H2O - 2.0; MgCl2 ∙ 6H2O - 0.1; FeSO4 ∙ 7H2O - traces; sterile water. Thiosulfate and bicarbonate were sterilized separately by dissolving in a little water, and after cooling
the rest of the salts were added to the solution together with FeSO4

In the material, the medium becomes cloudy after 2–3 days, and a film of molecular sulfur appears on its surface, which is formed during the oxidation of thiosulfate.
Thanks Sergey Viktorovich Pushkin , but is it specific to Thiobacillus identification or works for all sulfur oxidation bacteria?
