I've started this thread for the sake of completeness (as we've already got physics and chemistry); I've got nothing to say for the moment, but we could - for example - discuss whether structural realism can apply to biology...
noo please don't. there's other things to discuss. levels of selection. genes and what they are. the acceptability of teleological and evolutionary explanations in biology.
But what, dear Haris, if we WANT to discuss the distinction between structural and classical scientific realism?
ok, then i wait for those longer posts that explain your positions and try to pick holes in them. (ie i conform to the will of the community, and try to stay within the discussed subject)
well, let's set an arbitrary limit then. 20 lines is good. more than 50 is bad.
You can't cut an argument as if it were a roll of cloth - though it's a good metaphor for the academic approach...
