As I am a musician an Vocalist of Indian Classical Music, (AGRA GHARANA) I can say Mentoring in Music is online is difficult as in the Guru Shishya system the student has to sit in front of the Guru , and teaching Music is to create vibrations so the student absorbs them.
I am a speech pathologist. We have done efficacy research concerning follow-up to professional development activities. Video and e-follow up are good techniques to use. As far as mentoring is concerned, I use every available tool to mentor my graduate students. I think mentoring, like follow-up, is on-going. Tools like video conferencing, e-mailing, etc. are very valuable.
I personally feel that Artificial Intelligence(AI) is the perfect answer for the perfect e-Mentoring System. There should be perfect robots or computer system which gives the instant answers verbally to the audience who are seeking the mentoring for themselves or their children.
