I did not find diferences in the EEG recorded for diferente electrode locations over the rat´s head. The animals were intoxicated with a neurotoxic venom and neuronal activity was measured. Is this due to the anesthesia administered to rats?
Hi Maria - what size electrodes were you using and what locations? A rat skull is so small that different locations often record only minimal differences. In humans electrodes are best a few centimeters apart for any different, if you did that on a rat you couldn't even have 2 electrodes on the same brain!
Those who work on epileptic model system they do a lot of the EEG recordings. But it is invasive as they use thick electrode (100 micron) and stick them in brain via stereotaxic surgeries. Is this answers your question.
