Can I get one single fiber out of large number of electrospun nanofibers by using any equipment? Is there a possibility to detach fibers from the substrate without any damage, like substrate transfers using chemical synthesis? Kindly let me know if any other methods are followed. Thank you!
You can spin for very short period of time ( 30 sec) on a TEM substrate and you can use nano indentor to study the mechanical properties.
Nanoindentation of AFM studies, after calibration of the tip with a material of similar mechanical properties. If you deal with polymer nanofibres, you should be able to find a solid substrate of the same composition to be used as reference.

Hello, or you might deposit the nanofibers on embossed metal grids incorporating defined distances, followed by AFM bending tests. Please see publication enclosed.

In the attached papers you can clearly see how to make a single fiber and also how to retrieve it and take SEM images. You can use the same technique to draw fibers.

Our university don't have the UTM testing system. Currently, we use SEM PicoIndenter to do the nanomechanical testing. http://www.hysitron.com/Default.aspx?tabid=179
I'm supposed to use grid structures to deposit fibers and use FIB to pull single fiber out. Then use indentation to do some mechanical analysis, probes to do electrical characterization. I will let you know if this method works or not. Thanks!
