Hello to all the researchers; I'm trying to do a simulation in Ansys Fluent in order to understand what is the thermal behavior of brake discs in a complete model of a F1 car.

The CFD setup is complete, and I also managed to make rotating all the interest parts.

My question is about the thermal transient part; given a temperature immediately after braking, how could I check how much time the disk needs to cool to reach a goal temperature?

Even knowing that the results wouldn't be perfect, for simplicity I assumed:

- All the disk "body" is at the given temperature;

- No conduction, so the only way the disk can cool down is by the air flow coming from the front of the vehicle and perturbed by the surrounding parts and from the spinning of the disk itself.

A big thank you in advance to everyone will spend time to answer.
