Hello Everyone, may I ask one question.
Caco2 cells were culture on hydrogel with different concentration. Color changes of medium was detected on some well after 3 weeks of cell culture. Can someone please give me a clue of what could be the main possibility?
Usually changes in medium to a more pinkish colour indicates fungal contamination - do you see anything under a phase contrast microscope?

Is the change in color variable between concentrations of the hydrogel?
Besides what Olga Roman suggested, It might also be a change in pH due to the pH of your compound, or even hydrogel metabolization by the cells (if that is possible). Lastly, a "dumb" question, but surely you are also changing media during those 3 weeks? Because cell death and compound release to the media will also change its colour over time.
