SHSY5Y grow slowly. The doubling time for these cells is around 60-65 hours. In the undifferentiated state SHSY5Y cells tend to grow in clusters and may form clumps of rounded cells on top of one another in the central region of a cell mass. At the edges of the cluster, cells begin to extend short neurites. These cells in the undifferentiated form, are characterized morphologically by neuroblast-like, non-polarized cell bodies with few, truncated processes.
In the Fig, I can observe numerous small clusters growing all over. Just give some time for the cells to grow.

The recommended ATCC base medium for SHSY5Y is 1:1 mixture of ATCC-formulated Eagle's Minimum Essential Medium, Catalog No. 30-2003, and F12 Medium.
Also, these cells grow as a mixture of floating and adherent cells so collected both following centrifugation.
The cells look fine, but the population of cells are very less. Increasing the percentage of FBS to 15% could help in initial attachment and growth. Please condition in the media (keeping in incubator overnight) before adding it to cells. That would help in the cell growth.
Always heat innactivate your serum. Multiply cells in higher Media serum concentration. For morphology and protocol, Read: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-024-63005-y
