I am trying to measure the quantity of residual alkane (C24) left in the bacterial growing medium after incubation on minimal mineral medium supplemented with tetracosane. The measurements are done by GS-MS.

I noticed that after one week of incubation, for one strain, beside the pick for C24, I also obtained a pick for a chemical name: phenole 2,2’ methylenebis[6-(1,1’-dimethylethyl)-4-methyl (C23H32O2)).

Can you suggest what this chemical compound be?

It can be something that my bacterial strain is producing. But what?

Can this metabolite be an antioxidant?

Thank you!
