Greetings researchers, editors, and reviewers,
Recently, Publons has made headlines in many world-wide news outlets (including The Economist, BBC, The Guardian, CNN, New York times,...) for their effort to give recognition to peer-reviewers. Peer-review has been entirely volunteer work and many of us in science consider it as a community service. Publons has emerged as a cult hero to give recognition to peer reviewers for their work.
More than 150,000 researchers have created Publons profile. If you want to create, you can find it here https://publons.com/home/. I have created my own Publons profile to add the reviews I have done. However, I am not sure how worth it is. Is it simply to add it on your profile and boost about it? What are the advantages? I am not sure about what the tangible recognitions are. Benefits in our carreeer? Will that also affect peer-review process? Positively or negatively? Publons allow peer-reviewers to add their reviews for a rejected manuscript.

Just would like to note that Elsevier has recently launched a service somewhat similar to Publons for referees for its own journals

This is very important as all publications are based on the review process. So somewhere reviewers are more important for the research community. These platforms (Publons) provide current information for active reviewers.
