The publication process seems to be incredibly inefficient and slow. This delays the introduction and transfer of new knowledge and information.

I am wondering if there are any existing services or platforms that connect journals and authors at an earlier stage? Almost like a manuscript crowdfunding or pooling platform, or like a listing service, where you can submit your paper, with certain criteria or filters based on the type of journal you are looking to publish in, and journals can then view it almost like a marketplace, and indicate interest in your paper, based on their scope and needs.I am sure there might be interest in this from the perspective of authors, the challenge may be journals, who already have many more submissions than they publish per period. There may have to be some incentivization mechanisms built in!

Wondering what people think of this idea, if there is anything like this or been attempted before, and why or why not it did or didn't work.Cheers.
