Abnormal Gamma Prime formation during rafting?

Hello everyone,

I am currently working on the single crystal alloy CMSX-4 and I am interested in the formation mechanism of elongated gamma prime rafts that form during the creep rupture test.

The attached picture shows an elongated gamma prime band with surrounding gamma phase. EBSD measurements show no clear indication of an orientation dependence or a difference in orientation on the two sides of the band.

Has anyone made similar observations and investigated this unusual formation?
