ANSYS is best for solving structural problems using FEM

Both program have strong ability to analyze F. E. Problems. For concrete element I prefer ANSYS & for steel I prefer Abaqus.

it doesn't matter which s/w you use...both are good...if modeled correctly you'll get same solution

If u need to use a script in your case:

In ABAQUS you need to programming with fortran or Python. Python is realy nice programming language and have excellent libraries.

In ANSYS you need to programming with APDL. It's not difficult, but not fun.

You can use another language, like Python or MATLAB, and change an APDL file like a text file to make your APDL script.

I didn't try ANSYS, but Abaqus is very complecated to learn or to use. You have to practice with some one hwo now this code perfectly

Both are same, but for buckling analysis I prefer ANSYS over ABAQUS to bring stress analysis result in to account, where as for crack related problems Abaqus will be easier because it has a seperate module to solve such problems.

Both software are based on FE modelling. Peoples are generally used Abaqus for structural modelling and Ansys for fluid related problem. And the results are purely depend upon the

Using APDL in ANSYS is almost identical to programming, so it will be simple to master it quickly. ANSYS has great documentation related to APDL as well as to FEM theory.

If you prefer graphical interface, both ANSYS Workbench and Abaqus are not so easy to deal with, but anyway ANSYS is less complicated, cause all of its workspaces (Materials, Geometry, Meshing/Solution) are separated from each other, while in Abaqus you work in a single window.

both are good. but it depend on which approach you are gonna to analyze ,if soil mechanics and its application so i recommended you use abaqus , or if you work on structural so i recommend you use ansys

I prefer using Ansys for FE analysis. It is very usable for structural analysis. You can write macros for different kind of materials, also.

And which software to use depends on the problem you are dealing with.

Arzum Işıtan we can define materials for Abaqus using Python also.

I defined different kind of functionally graded materials contionously using ANSYS. I do not have enough information related Phyton. Ithanks for the information.
