I'm using Abaqus (2021) Explicit with a Python script to run a design optimization based on a wave propagation problem. During one such optimization run over the night (seems to be around 3 AM), Abaqus threw an error (in the picture below) that says "Unable to start analysis job. Abaqus Error: License for explicit with cpus=4 is not available. Abaqus/Analysis exited with error(s)."

  • I am part of a university and so share a number of licenses with the school, but the abaqus command window says there are still 96 licenses to be checked out.
  • Error also appears if I try an Abaqus Standard analysis.
  • I can open Abaqus and make models in the GUI and such, but the error appears specifically when I try to run a job.
  • I have tried restarting Abaqus as well as my computer just in case that worked, but I'm open to any suggestions.

Does anyone know how I can solve this problem short of completely uninstalling and reinstalling Abaqus?
