We always follow AAP classification 1999. However some are still confusing to write perfect diagnosis. I may write chronic generalized periodontitis. What's your opinions on this?
I definitely think that it has nt been understood properly...furcation involvement is a finding..nt a diagnosis...similarly like dental caries is a finding and acute apical periodontitis is a diagnosis...periodontitis itself encompasses furcation involvement, pocket, loss of attachment, gingival recession as well as bone loss...so I would disagree...
Thanks to Dr Aaron for your answer. But it is given as in Lindhe as i mentioned in the question as a diagnosis. nothing mentioned as general diagnosis or local diagnosis in Lindhe.
Where you want to know that 'with furcation involvement' can be written in diagnosis or you are concerned with 'chronic generalized' or 'generalized chronic' placement of words.
In first case, i think it is not a part of diagnosis, its diagnosis with associated finding to explain the condition of the patient more clearly. But when we write diagnosis per se, then only Generalized chronic periodontitis if >30% sites or localized if
