I've run a 3D simulation of solid mechanic when I'm trying to use contact pairs.In the model I have three parts, the first is constrained, the second is the membrane which is in contact with the first part and the thirth is where I prescribe a displacement and I'm looking the deformation of the membrane.
My issue is that the solids don't interact with each other, one go through the other one like a ghost.
Does anyone here have any experience with contact modeling in COMSOL? Anyone know how to fix this issue?
I suspect something is wrong with your geometry. If you try and partition it, you get some errors.
What do you mean about a partition? The geometry is composed with three different parts and I found many diffuculties to assemble them.
I mean that if you do a partion operation in COMSOL (I wanted to make a cut, so that only half the geometry was included to better see the geometry features) you will get either an error message or a weird resulting geometry, and that indicates a bad geometry. Perhaps everything is interpreted correctly in full 3D, but it is a concern. I my opinion.
Consider drawing the geometry from scratch, it looks very simple, but results look very weird (I have disabled the contacts/assembly, otherwise I get no solution)
Consider just doing 2Daxisymmetry to get familiar with the contact formulations.
I simulated my geometry in 2D befor to pass a 3D, I had the result but I found some dificulties in the convergence of deformation, I changed the number of iterations in stationnary solver in fully coupled and I found different results, I don't know why? I attached to this message my simulation in 2D if you wat to take a look
I would probably do 2Daxi instead, and start from there. But I will have a look
Just one thing,before I tried to modeling the membrane withe the hole but I didn't find the way to do it in 2Daxi, and concerning the importation of goemetries in model 2Daxi, it was posed me a problem to linearise all geometries near one axis

I have tried the 2Daxisy but always I find the problem of contact, I attached to this message the file of simulation, have a look to it and tell me your opinion please
