i tried synthesis of smectite, and it was measured by XRD.
however, too initial intensity is so high to do not show the other peak such (001), or (02-11) reflections.
how can i control such high initial peak intensity?

I am sorry to to say that the initial part (at 5 degree) is just high background and in your picture it is only one "broad" peak.... where are the other peaks? for XRD analysis you should scan the sample atleast upto 80degree (2-theta).
I think your sample clay like powder. There is an Montmorillonite raman and XRD pattern in this link. You should see a peak less than 30 degree. There isn't one in your XRD pattern. That might be nanoparticle effects. But moisture in the clay like sample is another reason suppressed the peak. If you dry your sample about 110C for about 3 hours, it is possible you could see the peak. (I think this temperature don't change your sample, but it is better check in the literature)
