I performed an X-ray fluorescence analysis on a clay soil. The results of the analysis were the mass fraction (% by weight) per chemical element (for example Fe, Si, Ca, etc.). How can I interpret the SiO2 fraction through these results?

You would need to assume the nature of composition, for example, standard oxides (SiO2, CaO, Fe2O3, Al2O3) and then calculate with stoichiometry. If your data has already been normalised, then you would need to re-normalise, and if your data is not already normalised, it should add up to 100% (including LOI) after converting. Also, check the software you use to run the instrument, it should already have an in-built function to convert to oxides wt%.
