When writing a research paper (from a thesis) for an index journal;
1) Is it necessary to explain about the pilot study (suppose it was conducted) including,
a. What measures used to assess the reliability and validity?
b. Measurement statistics obtained for above measures?
Or if necessary, to what extent we should elaborate about them?
2) Is it necessary to explain whether parametric assumptions (let’s suppose that research analysis was conducted by SEM) were satisfied including,
a. What are the assumption criteria employed?
b. The measurement statistics obtained for above assumptions?
Or if necessary, to what extent we should elaborate about them?
Yes - you can write up the pilot study at the start of the method section of your actual project, for example, to justify your basis for continuing the project etc., or you can write up the pilot study in a separate empirical section of your paper. Be as rigorous in your description of your pilot study as you would for a larger grant-funded research study. This will help you to get your pilot study published and lay the ground for funded research down the road.
