Hello people! I would like to understand if oncologists and doctors in general would be interested and indicate treatment for bone metastasis originating in breast cancer, ER +, PR +, HER-2 - with intralesional drug, which besides the action on mestastase would decrease pain? When would you make this statement? This is a new project that I would like to reach patients, but to validate it, I need to understand what you think.
Denise Priolli , your idea is interesting, but at this point of time, Intralesional drug injection for Bone metastasis is not a standard of care. Bone directed therapy such as Bisphosphonates, Monoclocal Antibody such as Denosumab are approved, also Lesion directed Radiotherapy for Pain relief are already in use. Even Skeletal directed Radioisotopes are used in some cancers like prostate cancer.

There is no much experience with intralesional treatment of bone metastasis. The usual therapy for these cases is radiotherapy which is quite effective for decreasing pain. Zoledronic acid retards growth of bone metastasis and also alleviates pain. Mandibular osteoporosis is an unpleasant collateral effect in some cases of Zoledronic acid treated patients.
I assume that intralesional treatment is limited to those metastasis that can be reached with low risk for the patient. It us an interesting idea.
