I feel there is a potential debate between clinicians about performing Tc scan to examine the uptake of thyroid gland before commencing the paediatric patients on anti-thyroid meds.
My question is - Would you normally involve the nuclear medicine investigations before starting the patient on antithyroid meds?
If so, what is the evidence/recommendation that you use?
How long does it normally take you to get the images done?
How would you manage the patient's symptoms while you are waiting for the images to be done?
