I am intending to use curcumin and Cy3 dye together on microarray. I am aware that curcumin itself is fluorescent. But, I am more focused on Cy3 dye excitation to read the relative fluorescent intensities. I am wondering if curcumin would interfere with the reading of the experiment?

If possible, measure the curcumin fluorescence in the absence of Cy3 under experimental conditions in order to find out whether it is sufficient to interfere with the Cy3 measurement. If there is a constant background from curcumin that is consistent and not too high (less than or equal to the Cy3 florescence), you may be able to subtract it from the total fluorescence. Better yet, remove the curcumin before measuring Cy3, if possible.
