I recently grew CNTs on iron modified graphitized carbon aerogel substrate using CVD method, in C2H2/H2/N2 flow at 700-900 C. Though I was successful in CNT growth, presence of amorphous carbon phase is ruining the porosity, electrical conductivity and electrochemical performance of the materials.

Could someone suggest to me any chemical/physical method to remove amorphous carbon without affecting metal oxide (iron) phase? Any publications related to the process would be appreciated.
