I would like to assess how the reasons of migration varies across type of environmental migrants, and therefore, how it could be useful for modelling adaptation strategies for the future migrants.
You can find some information about Agent-Based Modelling of migration in this article:
Anna Klabunde and Frans Willekens (2016). Decision-Making in Agent-Based Models of Migration: State of the Art and Challenges. European Journal of Population. 2016 Feb; 32(1): 73–97. Article Decision-Making in Agent-Based Models of Migration: State of...
There are also some book chapters on the topic, but they might be harder to reach:
Guillaume Arnoux Hébert, Liliana Perez, and Saeed Harati.(2018). An Agent-Based Model to Identify Migration Pathways of Refugees: The Case of Syria In: L. Perez et al. (eds.), Agent-Based Models and Complexity Science in the Age of Geospatial Big Data, Advances in Geographic Information Science. Springer International Publishing.
John Kennan & James R. Walker (2013). "Modeling individual migration decisions," Chapters, in: Amelie F. Constant & Klaus F. Zimmermann (ed.), International Handbook on the Economics of Migration, chapter 2, pages 39-54, Edward Elgar Publishing.
Maybe it will be useful the approaches of autonomy of migration like

Hi there, I would suggest you start with a pre-existing model changing some of its parameters. Are you using netlogo? If yes and if you are a starter, "An Introduction to agent-based modeling" by Uri Wilensky and William Rand is a nice book to start. I also found a master thesis on migration agends: https://scholarworks.sjsu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1621&context=etd_projects
An other option is Gama. Again, you may find many ready-to-use models there.
