Deparaffinization is the same as for DNA isolation. Since formaline results in degradation of DNA/RNA, I recommend to use the shortest random primers (oligo 6 - 8) for cDNA synthesis. As for RIn, it depends on the quality of tissue in block. Ask your cytologists to identify the site free of necrosis and connective tissue within the block and use this exact piece for the extraction of RNA.
